Concession cards

Find out which concession cards you can use on Adelaide Metro services.

Holders of these cards are eligible for concession fares on Adelaide Metro services.

You must always travel with a valid, approved concession or student card.
If you don’t, you may be fined.

The Health Care Card does not entitle the holder to concession benefits on public transport.
If you hold a Health Care Card you may be eligible for a Transport Concession Card.

Children

Accompanied children under five years of age travel free at all times.

Student travel

Children between 5 and 14 years of age are eligible for a Student metroCARD without carrying photo ID. Students aged 15 years or over must carry an approved photo ID card. 

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure is responsible for administering South Australian full time secondary and tertiary identification cards.

Plastic credit card style photographic IDs issued by the tertiary institution of attendance and endorsed with the approved sticker or the expiry date are recognised for Concession travel.

Students studying online or by correspondence are not eligible for Concession travel.

Secondary school children

Full Time Secondary Student Card-image: plastic card with student details and photo

Secondary school children aged 15 and over must carry a South Australian Government approved student ID card.

Tertiary students

Concession fares apply to holders of these South Australian Government approved student ID cards. Concession fares apply only for full time students.

Students studying online or by correspondence are not eligible for Concession travel.

Concession holder travel

The holders of the following independently issued concession cards are eligible for concession fares on Adelaide Metro services.

Concession Holder fares apply to holders of South Australia Government approved transport concession cards.

South Australian Seniors Card

Senior Card: plastic card with name, seniors card logo and adelaide metro logo

This card is issued by the Seniors Card Unit. Phone 1800 819 961 (free call) or visit the Seniors Card website.

Interstate Seniors Card holders from other Australian States and Territories are also eligible for concession fares on Adelaide Metro public transport.

Australian Pensioner Concession Cards

These cards are issued by Centrelink and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Adelaide Metro now accepts Centrelink's Digital Wallet as proof of entitlement.  Customers will need to log into the Centrelink App to show the card within the App. Genuine card section on your Adelaide Metro service.

Vision Impairment Travel Pass

This card is issued by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.

Interstate vision impairment travel passes are also accepted. Holders of a Western Australian travel pass without a photo ID can obtain a temporary pass from an Adelaide Metro InfoCentre.

Companion Card

Companion card: plastic card with person details and photo

The South Australian companion card is co-managed by the South Australian Department for Human Services. For more information visit the Companion Card website.

Plus One FREE COMPANION Card

Plus One free companion card: plastic card with name and photo

This card is issued by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure. For more information visit the plus one free application page on sa.gov.au. 

DVA Gold Health Card

This card is issued by the Department of Veteran Affairs.

DVA Health Card: plastic yellow card with Australian Federal Government logo

Veterans can continue to use the above card, until their new card has been issued.

Veteran card: plastic yellow card with Australian Federal Government logo

New Card

Transport Concession Card

Transport concession card: plastic white card with person details

                               

This card is issued by the South Australian Department of Human Services. For more information visit the Concessions page on sa.gov.au.

Mobility Pass

Mobility pass card: plastic white card with person details and photo

 This card is issued by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.

Incapacitated Ex-service Personnel

Incapacitated Ex-service Personnel card: plasic card with name and photo
Travel pass card: plastic white card with name and card numbers
DVA Health Card: yellow plastic card with Australian Federal Government logo

Veterans can continue to use the above card, until their new card has been issued

Veteran card: plastic yellow card with Australian Federal Government logo

New Card

These cards are managed by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure however confirmation of entitlement will need to be provided by the Department of Veteran Affairs.
